MAX MÜLLER
Musical Background
From Munich to Cannes – a Journey Shaped by Sound
His musical education began with classical piano and jazz drums at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich. This was followed by a scholarship to the prestigious UCLA Hollywood Workshop and a master’s degree in film scoring and sound design from the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.
His short film Chop Suey received the Short Tiger Award and premiered at the Cannes Festival — a milestone that showcased his international signature early on.
Sound Aesthetic & Compositional Style
Music That Makes Stories Tangible
Max Müller sees music as a dramaturgical tool. His compositions are emotionally precise and structurally refined — ranging from leitmotif-driven writing and subtle underscoring to complex electronic soundscapes.
He works as effortlessly with small ensembles as he does with large orchestras, using music as a powerful narrative layer between image and emotion.
Theatre & Stage Music
Between Classicism and Contemporary Spirit
Max Müller has composed evocative music for numerous stage productions — from literary classics like Faust I & II and The Metamorphosis to folk tales such as The Brandner Kaspar and Momo. His musical language bridges traditional and modern aesthetics.
The Süddeutsche Zeitung praised his work as “brilliant and mysteriously symphonic” — music that leaves a lasting impression.
